About the
Compagnie de danse contemporaine
du Québec (CDCQ)

ABOUT THE CDCQ

The CDCQ is the first company of its kind in Quebec, providing a pre-professional experience to youth dancers. It was founded in 2020 as The Préville Youth Dance Company. Our studio is located at 415 Mercille, Saint-Lambert, QC.

The focus of the Compagnie de danse contemporaine du Québec training programme is to develop the unique artist in each dancer, prioritizing confidence and the development of the requisite versatility to work within a variety of choreographic styles and processes.

Members of the CDCQ train together, in a bilingual setting, between 7-10 hours per week on evenings and some Saturdays. The curriculum encompasses contemporary styles, ballet, improvisation techniques and partner work. Weekly masterclasses provide a diverse range of experience from essentrics to voguing and Broadway jazz, to name a few. Dancers also have the option to take additional tap and/or hip hop classes.

CDCQ dancers access comprehensive training while being able to remain at their regular school during the day.

Who is Eligible and How to Audition for the CDCQ

The CDCQ is for dancers from 13-20 years old. If you are at least 13 years old and have at least two years of dance training in any style, we invite you to come audition with us.

2025-2026 Audition Opportunities

An official open audition day was held August 19th, 2025. If you missed this chance to audition, please contact us to arrange a private audition, either in person or by video.

Auditioning is the best way to see if what we have to offer aligns with where you are in your dance journey, and where you would like to go! For additional details, please write to dance@centrepreville.org or to our Artistic Director, Jeremy at jeremy.raia@centrepreville.org.

The CDCQ is partially funded to enable all dedicated young dancers to develop their artistry. As a division of the Préville Fine Arts Centre, which is a registered not-for-profit and charity, the CDCQ is able to seek support from corporate sponsors, private donors and public funding bodies to ensure that finances are never a barrier for participating in the CDCQ.
